CLIL in New Contexts

Content & Language Integrated Learning or CLIL refers usually to the use of a foreign language (FL) or a language other than the native language (L2) to teach content subjects in high school classrooms. The focus of research into CLIL usually revolves around the prestige language and content subject combinations mostly English+STEM in European countries and is associated with the internationalization of the school curriculum to make high school graduates more competitive in the international job market. The current issue of interface welcomes papers on this highly topical issue from CLIL practitioners as well as researchers but would also like to open up the discussion to include (i) all languages and subjects, (ii) primary, secondary and tertiary education contexts.

interface Journal of European Languages and Literatures is inviting original unpublished papers written in English, French, German, Spanish Russian or Italian for interface Issue 16, to be published in October 2021.Topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • Best practice in integrating FL or L2 Languages in content subject teaching
  • Empirical research in integrating FL or L2 Languages in content subject teaching
  • Best practice and empirical research in CLIL in primary, secondary and tertiary educational contexts
  • CLIL in Science, Arts & Humanities
  • CLIL for Global Citizenship Education
  • CLIL in Digital Learning & Multilingual Learning

Papers should be submitted online at http://interface.org.tw/ no later than July 31, 2021.
